CHD employs almost 1,100 people who provide a broad array of programs and services to individuals and families throughout Western Massachusetts and Connecticut. With a current agency budget exceeding $50 million, we serve over 10,000 people annually. Our many programs are grouped into the areas of Children and Families; Community Resources; Intellectual Disabilities; Juvenile Justice; Homelessness Prevention; Mental Health/Addiction; and Social Enterprise.

CHD is a leader in community initiatives for violence prevention in schools and neighborhoods, and provides mediation and training to families, schools and community organizations. We work collaboratively and in partnership with other agencies and community based resources to provide the best services to the people we assist and to participate in the creation and maintenance of effective and responsive community systems.

CHD's programs include clinical and outreach therapeutic services, emergency and long term foster care, shelter and supportive services to the homeless, and community-based residential, supported housing, day treatment and vocational programs.  All of these services work to support families and individuals as dignified members of their communities—to avoid institutional or restrictive environments.
