Hampshire County at the 2007 Rodman Ride for Kids. |
Whether you are a serious bicyclist or a weekend peddler, join Team Hampshire County and enjoy a 25, 50, or 100 mile ride for a great cause. The Rodman Ride for kids takes place on a beautiful, interesting course in Foxboro. All of the expenses associated with this event are underwritten by the Rodman Ride, so when you ask your sponsors to pledge you for the ride, you can be satisfied that 100% of their donation goes directly to BBBS of Hampshire County. In addition, the Rodman Ride will match these gifts with an additional 10%! Each rider gets a t-shirt and water bottle, and everyone gets a free BBQ at the end.

Frequently
Asked Questions |
| Jump To Ride Day FAQ |
| Q: Do I have to be an experienced rider to
participate? |
| A: No. Anyone who knows how to ride a
bike can do it! The Ride for Kids is not a race. It is a fun
bike tour which loops through flat, scenic back roads of Southeastern
Mass. Bike mechanics, courtesy vans en route, medical and
emergency services, and fully equipped Water Stops make this
event an excellent choice for both the novice and experienced
rider. We recommend some level of physical preparation or
training. |
| Q: How long is the Ride? |
| A: You can register to ride 25, 50 or
100 miles. Choose the distance that best suits you. And you
don't need to worry about racing back- the barbecue doesn't
end until after the last rider finishes! |
| Q: What time does the Ride start? |
| A: The start time depends on the distance
you choose to ride. The 100-mile ride starts at 7 a.m, the
50-mile ride starts at 9 a.m., 25-mile ride starts at 10:30
a.m. Riders depart in waves, beginning at their start times. |
| Q: Where is the Ride? |
| A: The Ride begins and ends at the Rodman
Health and Fitness Center on Route One in Foxboro. Take I-90E
to 495S to exit # 14A, Route 1. Riders have use of the Fitness
Center's lockers, showers, saunas and other facilities on
the day of the Ride. |
| Q: How much money must I raise to participate? |
| A: Each rider must raise
a MINIMUM of $300. Many of our team mates raise more, some raise more than $1000. We hope you will accept the challenge to help
us raise as much money as possible to support children in Hampshire County. |
| Q: How do I reach my fundraising goal? |
| A: Ask friends, neighbors, and co-workers
to sponsor your ride. The more you ask, the more you raise
to support children and families in our community. Check our
website for helpful hints including a sample letter to mail
or email. Visit www.bbbshampshirecounty.org.
Have a house party to help you fundraise. BBBSHC is happy
to help! You invite the people and provide some snacks, we'll
provide a brief program about the Rodman Ride for Kids and
how it supports Big Brothers Big Sisters. |
| Q: How do I register? |
| A: Once again, to sign up to ride, go to www.ride.kintera.org. Click on "Join a Team" and find Big Brothers Big Sisters of Hampshire County. If you wish not to register onlin, you can call Big Brothers Big Sisters of Hampshire County directly at (413) 253-2591. |
| Q: What do I do with the money I collect? |
| A: Please mail all collected pledges
to Big Brothers Big Sisters of Hampshire County, Bangs Community
Center, Amherst, MA 01002. All money must be received by the
Big Brothers Big Sisters office by November 15, 2009. Checks
